Minutes of jest meeting read and coufigmed. letter wns read from the Provincial 'Seeratary, informing the Board tbat j £550, the balance of the supplementary | graut from the Provincial P&jncil, had j been paid to the credit of the' Board. j j The report of the Finance Committee I I who were appointed to consider the re- ' adjustment of the inccrue of the master of tho second division of Bridge-street j school having been considered, it was j proposed by Mr Goulstone, "That tho salary of the second master be fixed at £187, without head-money, in accordance with the recommendation embodied in the report of the Committee." Mr Sueihiard proposed, as an ameudment, •< That the income be fixed at £180, or that, at the option of Mr Sadd, his position remain as at present." Resolved, on the motion of Mr Campbell, " That from March 1, one assistant only be employed at Richmond girls'* school, at a salary of £36 per annum.'* Resolved, on the motion of Mr Jessop, " That £3 bo allowed to the Hope Committee for repairs at Ranzau." Resolved, on the motion of Mr SHErnAitD, " That an additional £5 be allowed to enable the Lower Moutere Committee to complete the new schoolroom." Resolved, on the motion of Mr Smith, " That £2 10s be added to the grant of £16 made to the lower Wakefield Committee ior painting and shingling." Resolved, on the motion of Mr Smith, " Tbat the Secretary be authorised, in the absence of a Local Committee at Cobden, to expend the £10 voted in August, 1874, for repairing the school-room there." An application was read from Mr W. Gibson for payment of 10a, to compensate him for loss of time in attendat Court, when summoned for an Education rate that had already been paid. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Shephard, " That es the person who sued ior Education rate is neither appointed by nor responsible to this Board, and as the rate is not paid to its account, Mr Gibson be recommended to apply to the Provincial Government." A letter having been read from two members of the Collingwood Committee, complaining of the conduct of the mnjority of the Committee in granting the use of the school-room for a Foresters' fele, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Bdddlb, "That the complainants be informed that the Central Board does not iuterfere with the occasional grant of the use of school-rooms for purposes approved of by Local Committees, unless it is shown that the educational interests of the district Buffer thereby." Resolved, on the motion of Mr FiiErHARD, "That all certificates of competency held by persons not now in the service of the Board be hereby cancelled, and that in future special certificates only be issued, terminable when the teacher vacates the position to which he is appointed." Bank overdraft on the 2nd of March £1039 103 7d. The following notices of motion were given : — 1. By Mr Wastney: «♦ That £7 be voted for shingling the back part of Clifton Terrace school-house." 2. By Mr Talbot: " That £10 be added to the salary of the mistress of Richmond girls' school."
