SEALED TENDERS will be received at the Superintendent's Oflice, Nelson, up to Four o'clock p.m on the 31st day of DECEMBER next, from PERSONS willing to ADVANCE and LEND to the Supbbihtendent of the Pkovxmce of Nelso. an AMOUNT not exceeding £27,000, upon security of a mortgage of the Land mentioned in tbe Schedule hereto

PARTICULARS. It is proposed to expend (ho money to be borrowed in the construction of a Wharf and Dry Dock, and Reclaiming Land in the Nelson Harbor, which works will form part of the security. Tbe repayment of all moneys advanced will be eecured by a Deed of Mortgage of the Land mentioned in the schedule, executed and given according to the piovisions of the '« Loan Act, 1874." The Mortgage will be for a Term of Twenty Years from the date thereof. Such Deed will contain, amongst the other usual provido s in Mortgage Deeie stipulations to the following effect: — (1.) That in the event of the General Government of New Zealand or the Provincial Government of Nelson requiring to take or use aoy portion ofthe land comprised in such security for Railway purposes, they shall be at liberty to take and nse the same therefore without the consent of the Mortgagee being nec.a.ary it to be obtained, atd without the Mort- ! gagee thereof being entitled to any payment or compensation in respect thereof. (2.) The Mortgagor shall not be bound to itisure any buildings or erections on the said security. (3.) Thei nterest to be payable half-yearly at Nelson. (4.) The Superintendent to be at liberty from time to time to grant any lease or leases of the aaid land or any part thereof without the consent of the Mortgagee, ant such leases to be as valid as if such mortgage had not been executed. The ordinary or other revenue of tha Province of Noleou will not be liabie to b) ciarged with, or be liable for, tbe repayment of any monejs to be so advance!, nor will the Superintendent be personally liable by reason of his signing any such deed of Mortgage Portions of the land to be included ia tlie security are at present leased for various ttrms of years, the rentals now received from tlie leasees thereof amounting to £1050 per annum, and the rentals increasing for subs' quent portions of the terms of the lease. The land will be mortgaged subject to such 1 axes. Tenders to Btate rate of interest per centum, l».r annum, and to be sent in to the Superintendent's Office, Nelson, endowed " Tender for Loan."

SCHEDULE, otarting from a point on the Nelson Haven one chain from the corner of Russell-street, and bearing 2 . deg. magnetic, continuing the same bearing for a distance of 1300 links, thence by a line bearing 295deg magnetic, ior a distance of 2200 links, thence by a line bearing 205 de? magnetic, for 3,400 links, thence by a line HSdeg magnetic, for a distance of coo links to the banks of the Harbor on Wakefleld Quay, and thence by the road to the point from whence this description commenced.
