Wheeler i This was an action to recover the sum of £10 19s, the value of some drapery shipped at Wellington on board the Taranaki, but which wa. not delivered at Nelson. Mr Pitt appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Fell for the defendant The plaintiff's ea«e was that a case of drapery had been shipped at Wellington, and on the passage had been broken open, and a hole cut in the zinc, through which two dozen white shirts and two dozen pairs of stocking bad been abstracted. On the discovery being made, the police were telegraphed to in Auckland, who searched the steamer, and found in one of the men's bucks a shirt corresponding with those shipped. Two guineas were also charged for a survey of the case. ; Mr Feli, argued that the master was not liable for any wrongs committed by the crew ontside the ordinary scope of their duties. After hearing some of the evidence, the further hearing of the case was adjourned for a fortnight. Levestam v. Sharp. This was an action to recover the sum of £8 Bs, commission on sale of a steam engine. , Mr Pitt appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. H.
