SYDNEY.
The Premier and Postmaster-General of Queensland arrived at Sydney to confer with Mr Parkes and Mr Vogel in reference to the telegraphic communications between Singapore and Torres Strait. It is proposed to extend the service, snd employ swifter steamers. Ihe questions of postal reciprocity and registration of debentures on the London stock exchange are to be disc-.sed. The City of Adelaide takes the next month's Californian mail. The report of the Australian Mutual Benefit Society has been unanimously adopted. The gross surplus exhibited in the quinquennial balance sheet amounts to £295,899. The estimated increase in the value ot Government debentures is -621,714, r< quiring revaluation at the quinquennial period, taken at the market price on the 30th September. The amount set apart lor distribution is £235,185. New teajS sold at auction realised 2s ljd per pound. A sshooner from Newcastle to New Zealand has put in here dismasted.
