PARLIAMENTARY.

Wellimgtox, August 8. In the House last night, the Premier announced that he would bring down measures next week dealing with the following questions: — The proposals made in the Financial Statement regarding the provinces ; the Polynesian Islands trade ; the further loan for immigration and public works ; and the amending of the Public lie venues Act* He would also make a ministerial statement regarding immigration. The House went into committee on the Forests Bill, which passed through after considerable opposition with the object of securing further delay. The report ot the Joint Committee of both Houses on the breach of privilege regarding the Ward-Chapman enquiry was brought up. The subStanee of it was that Judge Ward and Mr Luckie were responsible for the publication of the information, Judge Ward having told Mr Luckie who telegraphed it. . Mr i/uckie apologised to the House, tod aaid that he was indebted to Judge Ward for allowing- him ,to inform the Committee who it was that had supplied lim with tjie ioforawtiofi.

Mr Luckie then withdrew, and Mr Sheehan made some spirited remarks on the absurdity of the whole proceedings, which he characterised as absolutely laughable. He insisted that the public had just as much right to be made acquainted with the proceedings of Select Committees as of those of Courts of Justice, and urged that tbe Standing Orders required amendment io that direction.

The apology was accepted, and Mr Luckie re-entered the Chamber.
