THE RAILWAY ROUTE.
The following telegrams have passed between Mr Sharp, the chairman of the Inland Communication Committee, and his Honor the Superintendent : — His Honor Oswald Curtis, Wellington. Considerable uneasiness fe't here from report that Government intend diverting railway, so as to avoid line going down the Buller Valley, in favor of a trunk line from Blenheim by Tarnlale and Amuri to join on to Canterbury railway to West Coast, with branch from Top House to Nelson. Please obtain information from Premier, and telegraph same to me to-3ay. Jons Shabp. John Sharp, Esq., Nelson Government has decided to make present surrey of Foxhill to Brunner line in hope to improve gradients and lessen cost of line laid out by Kochfort, which is estimated to coat £8,000 to £9,000 per mile. Government will also make flying survey from Foxhill, via Tarndale and Amuri, with branch to Blenheim, and then determine what to do. A line will also be surveyed from Amuri, via Ahaura, to Brunner ton. Oswald Cobtis, Superintendent. Noon, Augu-t 4, 1874
