. : Wellington, July 9. Five publicans were fined £5 each thia morning for selling liquor on Sunday. ■\ Auckland, July 9. The schooner Dauntless, just arrived from New Caledonia, reports tbe schooner Mary Stewart a total wreck at the New Hebrides. The crew were picked op in an open boat at sea, and taken to Noumea. Admiral Robout haa arrived at Noumea from France to inquire ioto the; escape of Rochefort. \__AU the Communists will be removed to the Island of Pines aod another island to be selected. Bateman has been sent to France to fulfil his term of imprisonment. . Tbe convict executioner has been murdered by one of the convicts. The murderer was afterwards guillotiood. Duels are very prevalent. Three took place on the 20th of June, oue between Lieut Devarenne and Mr Guillran , when the latter was killed. Permission to fight had been given by tbe Governor, who attended tbe funeral, and afterwards addressed the soldiers upon upholding their honor, even at the cost of life.
