EDUCATION COMMITTEES.
Upper Wakefield. — Between sixty and seventy householders assembled at the Upper Wakefield school for the purpose of electing three committee-men to supply the vacancies occasioned by the retirement of the members whose. term of ofiice had expired. Mr. T. R. Combes, the newly-appointed teacher, was called to the cbair. The retiring members were — Messrs. J. Ptaree, W, Wadawortb, and B. Lines. The candidates proposed were — Messrs. Wutty, B. Lines, Holder, J. Pearse, and W. Wadaworth ; and tho result of the balloting was f,s follows: — Watty, 18 ; B. Lines, 15 ; Holder, 14; J. Pearse, 13 ; and Wadswortb, 8. The fitst three gentlemen were declared to be elected, and after a vote of thanks to tbe chairman the meeting concluded. After the meeting, the committee met and appointed Mr. Holder to be the representative at the Central Board, and Mr. Watty to be treasurer and secretary. Wakapuaka. — Measrs. Mackay, Donald, and Alborough, were elected, the two last being new members. Westport. — Messrs. Organ, Sheabnn, and Munro were elected.
