In the Dumfries Sheriff's Small-debt Court, the Bench decided that an auctioneer was hound to sell at the advertised hour, and gave judgment for substantial damages in the case of one who advertised to sell at one o'clock, but did not aell till five o'clock. Mr Frank Buckland writes to the Times that be witnessed, five miles below Gloucester, the unexpected appearance of a gigantic tidal wave called the "Bore." Tbe dense wall of water, extending from bank to bank of the Severn, washed upwards with fearful velocity. As it went past, the "voice of many waters," accompanied by a strange and sudden blast of cold wind, was awe-inspiring. The sudden rise of water in the river was from eleven to twelve feet.
