We understand that Mr T. Mackay, C.E., has been appointed by the General Government to conduct all matters and proceedings for tbe acquisition of land for the Nelsou and Foxhill Railway. St Mary's. — Sunday next being Whitsunday, Mass will be said at this church both at 8 and at 10 a.m. .Executive BiLL.-rElsewhere will be found a copy of tbe new Executive Council Bill introduced by Mr Acton Adams last night, and which will come on for the second reading on Tuesday evening. , Nelson Jockey Club. — A general meeting of the members of this Club will be held at the Masonic Hotel this evening for the discussion of matters of importance.' »••'■•- Christ Ciiubch. — A meeting of the parishioners of Christ Church, in connection with the.;. rebuilding of the ..Parsonage, will be held at tbe Bishop's Schoolroom at eight o'clock this eveniog. Loan-Bill.— A Bill to authorise the Superintendent to raise a loan for the purpose of completing and constructing certain public works was introduced by the Provincial Solicitor and read the first time last night. It provides in the first ;; place for vesting in trustees certain lands, on the security of which they may borrow £3000 for the purpose of defraying the cost of completing and furnishing the Lunatic Asylum now being erected on those lands. It further provides tbat the Superintendent naay borrow the sum of £17,000 for the .purpose of defraying the cost of constructing a new wharf at tho port of Nelson on the security of "all. that piece or parcel of land in the province of Nelson, situated, below high-water mark in the harbor of Nelson, in the said province, bounded on the northward by land in the Suburban North district granted to James Mackay; on the eastward partly by sections numbered respectively 16, 17, and 19, ou the plan of tbe Suburban North district, partly by the Paru Paru road; and partly by Wakefield Quay to section numbered 1 on the plan of the town of NeJson; on tbe southward partly by sections numbered respectively 9, 6, 13, and 14, of block marked H on tbe said plan of the town of Nelson, partly by sections numbered respectively 148, and 1126 on the said plan of the town of Nelson, and partly by the Havenroad; aad on the westward partly by the town sections on Fifeshire Island, and from thence along the Boulder Bank to where the northern boundary* commences, as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan drawn in the margin of the crown grant thereof to the Superintendent of the province of Nelson, bearing date on or about the 9th day of. February, 1856, under the band of Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, C.8., Governor of the colony of New Zealand, and sealed with the public seal of the colony."
