Present : Councillors Fell, Jennings, Burn, Bump, and Percy, the Mayor in the chair. .; The"; folldwitig resolutions on tlie establishment of rf Harbor Board were passed by tbe Council, a copy of which wer.O ord,ered,.to. be,.aent to his Honor the Superintendent:— Prrposed by Mr Fell and seconded by Mr B. Bubn:— " That this Council believes that the- establishment of- a Harbor Board, other . .than. its. .City, j Council. will be , detrimental to the interests : 6f the city." ; : '-''•-'• "'■ - Proposed by Mr Fell, and seconded by Mr B. Bukn: — " That this Council is of opinion - that the; City Council for ; the. time being should be constitute 1 *a Harbor Board,; with all powers given to such Board under the Act of 1870." Proposed by Mr Fell, and seconded by Mr R. Burn:—" That if the Provincial Government should refuse to constitute the City Counc'l a Harbor Board, this Council is of opinion that the Harbor Reserves should be forthwith vested in tho Corporation; the Provincial Government retaining the managements of its harbor department, and the City Council indemnifying the Government so tar as the revenue of the Harbor Reserves will extend against any deficiency of the pilotage rates and other receipts to meet the arbor expenses." ..--:-• The Council then adjourned.
