Melbourne, April 28. The elections concluded last week, aud the results are generally satisfactory. Sir J. M'Culloch had an tasy victory over hn opponent at Warnambool, but Mr O'Shannessy wa. beaten by a locil candidate. All the Ministers are re-elected. The Minister of Mines waß the most closely run of any. Mr Langton was returned over the head of Mr Sichel, the frea trade candidate. Mr Coppin is returned for East Melbourne with Mr Cohen. The* Argus in its last number gives a majorit •■ to the Opposition, but the Ministerial papers show the result to I c tbe other way, but it is difficult to arrive at a conclusion. Fourteen new members are returned to this Assembly, and nine who had been iv previous Assemblies. Parliament will meet towards the end ol May, when reform tills will be introduced. It has transpired that Mr Francis the Chief Secretary has thrice decline! the offer of knighthood.
