TheUltrnmontanes secured 100 seats, and the Ministerial* ists and Liberals 235, giving a working mr-jority to the Ministiy of 80 votes. Great uproar was excited in the Lower House by a deputy ventilating a scandal accusing Bismarck of entertaining proposals for the concession of territory on the left bank of the Rhiue, Bismarck, iu passionate language; denounced the statement as an audacious falsehood, and his accuser subsequently explained that he founded the statement on La Marmora's recently published book, which has since been pronounced a forgery.
