Auckland, December 20. The Turf and Jockey Clubs have amalgamated. Mr Carey has sold Calumny and Hatred for £1,3n0, Mr Watt being the purchaser. It : ia reported that Mr Perkins has bought all Mr Redwood's horses, Luriine, Kakapo, Papapa, Batter, and four others for £2,500. The Provincial Council is adjourned until the Ist May. Alexandra, December 20. Jhe meeting at Kuiti is conncluded. Mitnuhiri did not succeed in stopping the liquor traffic. A large meeting is proposed to be held at Kopua in January. Taarangß, December 20. Mr M'Lean is at the inland Lake district interviewing the natives. He has met with an enthusiastic reception amongst the Maoris. Napier, December 19. Subscriptions are being raised throughout the province to defray the cost of the prosecution of the ' Daily Telegraph.' Moch sympathy is felt for the evening journal. GreytowD, Dc .ember 20. The Waihcnga Hotel was burnt down last nigh,t. Wellington, December 19. Greengrocers wholesale price— turkeys 5s to 7s, fowls 5s per pair, geese 4a to 4s 6d, ducks 5s per pair, batter Bd, eggs Is 2d per dozen, potatoes 11s 4d. Cnristdrarch, December 19. The grain market is qaiet. Thtre arc no new sales to report. Wheat nominally 5s iree on board, oats 4s 6d, new cheese enquired for at 6d., butter, 6fd to 7d. Dunedio, December 20. The time for applying for shares in the Union Shipping Company closes on the 6th January.
