Waimea West Election. *-*-- The nomination of candidates for ihe representation of this district wili take place at the South School-room at noon to-morrow. A Race for £15 a-side took place, at Stoke to-day, between Mr Schroper's bk. m. Coontes and Mr Kilgour's b. g. Firetail, owners up. Two miles. The stakes were a gift to the mare, Firetail having no show at all. Wesleyan Home Missions. — A public meeting in aid of the above Missions will be held in the Richmond Wesleyan Church this evening at seven o'clock. Several Ministers of the district meeting and other gentlemen will be present, to advocate its claims. The Country. — Those of our readers who are unable to get out of town can have no idea of the beautiful appearance presented by the Waimea just now. The trees, hedges, and fields, are io their very prime, and it is worth while to take a walk to the top of Greig's Hill for the purpose of obtaining a view of the country. There are some heavy crops of grass to be seen, as also some most promising fields of corn, but in too many instances there is clear evidence of very indifferent farming, the ground that is cropped showing signs of being thoroughly worn out. 9 Show op Sheep.-— We regret very much, that owing to some mistake we have not yet received the prize list of yesterday's show. There was much interest displayed in the affair, as was shown by the presence on the ground of settlers from all parts of thß country. The shearers' prize brought out some most excellent operators, and was keenly competed for.
