A Sermon will be preached in All Saints' Cburcb to-morrow evening, subject — " The World's Great Assize," Concert. — Another of those pleasant concerts for which Stoke is becoming famed, will be given at the Public Hall on Mdnday evening next. The Rev. T. Buddie, will- preach in the Weeleyan Church, Hardy-street, to-morrow morning and evening. The subject of the eveping's discourse will be "Christ weeping over Jerusalem." Suez Mail. — The Taranaki with the Suez mail will arrive from Wellington tomorrow. The Post Office will not be open for the delivery of mails until Monday morning. Oddfellows' Hall , — There was a large crowd of youngaters'at the afternoon performance to-day, all of whom were equal fy delighted with the performances pf; La Petite, Amy, the .conjuring tricks, and the presents they received at the close of the entertainment. Furs. — It will be seen that Messrs Benjamin Brothers' collection of furs will remain open, until 5 o'clock on Monday afternoon, in consequence of the Taranaki not starting until' the evening of that day. A number of people have already visited the Masonic Hall, and a large crowd is expected, there this evening. — Advt. Our Minerals. — Some samples of iron smelted from hematite obtained at Parapara are to be seen at Mr Webster's store, and at the office of this paper. The ore was smelted by. Mr Adam* of Messrs. N. Edwards and Co's Anchor Foundry, and was found to produce 40 per cent, of iron. The monumental tombstone, and ornamental iron railing, subscribed, for by the parishioners of the late Rev. David Rusz. has arrived at Westport, from Melbourne, and in a few days will be placed in their destined position. A storekeeping firm in Timaru offer a silk dress of the value of five guineas for the best exhibits in butter at-tbe forthcoming Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Society's exhibition. The Auckland Eleven have challenged the. cricketers of Wellington to play a friendly match with them as they pass through Wellington on their cricketing tour round the colony, some time next month. The Electra, recently arrived at Wellington, from London, brought five pure bred sheep for Mr Ludlam of the Hutfc. Four of these 1 are Bomney Marsh rams from the celebrated flock of Mr H. Rigden, of Hythe ;, the fifth is a Lincoln ram, bred by Mr Dudding. The Post says : — The Wellington football team which recently played Nelson seems not to have earned the approval of the remaining football players of the town, by not winning a goal, and will once more have to undergo the. struggle for supremacy, not with a provincial team but a second team from the city.
