The New Tariff.- — In remarking upon the alteration in the tariff yesterday, we made it appear that the new duties would create an increase of 75 per cent, on the whole Customs' revenue. This was an error, as it iB only the goods on which measurement duties were charged that would be aflected, spirits and tobacco remaining as they were. Horticultural and Industrial Exhibition. — An exhibition of farm and garden produce, and works of local art and industry is to be held on the 25th November next. The want of such an opportunity of bringing together and displaying such articles has long been felt ia Nelson, and the (hanks of the public are due to the Committee who have so energetically token the matter in hand. We will answer for it that the show of flowers and fruits especially will be without its equal in the colony, for in no other province can garden operations be carried on under such advantages as those of which we can boast. We are glad to hear that the list of subscribers is steadily increasing, and that the exhibition is likely to prove decidedly popular. Madame Cora. — For some days past the blank walls in variouß purts of the town have been ornamented with gorgeously colored illustrations of the performances of Madame Corn, who occupies the proud position of the " only female magician of the world." We have not yet iiad an opportunity of witnessing any of the marvellous feats which this h\dy is said to accomplish, but judging from what we have seen in the public prints of this colony and Australia wo should pronounce her entertainment to be decidedly attractive. She perlorms in the Oddfellows' Hall on Monday night, when the Nelson public will have au opportunity of forming their own opinion of her abilities.
