Mr Steward moved for a select Committee to report on the condition of the Volunteer force, with a view to amending the regulations. Mr J. C. Brown denounced the volunteers of the Middle Island as useleßS. Mr Stafford said the Middle Island Companies were mere shooting clubs. Motion carried. In reply to Mr G. Parker, Mr Voge( said that a correspondence had passed between the Government and the Admiralty relative to making H.M.N. R>Bario a colonial training ship, bat that the correspondence was incomplete. The motion for the correspondence was carried. On the motion of Mr Tairoa, its was agreed to report on the unfulfilled promises to Natives of the Middle Island. Ma Curtis moved for a return of all suras contributed by the provinces under the guarauteo system, which was agreed to. The Juvenile Offenders Bill was strongly denounced from ail eides of the House, and thrown out on the voices.
