The Timaru Herald says : — -At the preseut time, on Messrs Studholme Bros, freehold property (in all some 20,000 acres) in the Waimate district, no less than eighteen double-furrow ploughs are constantly at work, aggregating in the week from 250 to 300 acres of ploughed ground. The Orunner Cow Mine. — Many of our readers will probably wonder where this mine is situated but they will be able to form a shrewd guess after reading the following New Zealand telegram which appeared in a late Newcastle paper : — " The first sod of the Orunner Cow Mine Railway was turned yesterday, by Mr Harrison, member for the district. Three thousand persons took part iv the procession." Native Meeting in Hawse's Bat — The llawke's Bay Herald states that the following are amongst the resolutions proposed by Henare Matua, at a recent Waimarama meeting, and passed:— "Religion. — All pay more attention to this than they have lately. That natives cease to fight agniust each other, whether on European side or not. All should cease to shed blood. That no more disputes about laud should arise.
