("Before Lowthbe Bkoad, Esq., R.M-) This Day. Owen McGee was 'charged with being drunk and disorderly on the racecourse yesterday. His Worship said that the prisoner's conduct had been extremely disorderly and the language used by him was simply disgraceful. He (the Magistrate) had twice called the attention of the Police to the state of the prisoner who had been removed, but for some unexplained, and for no possible satisfactory reason had been permitted to return to the course where he continued to repeat his former outrageous conduct. He would be fined in the fall penalty of 20s, and in default 3 days' imprisonment. Francis o\Callaghan was fined £2 and costs, 6s 6d, for furious riding on the Waimea Road yesterday afternoon. Francis o' Gallaghan and Emma Lewis were each fined 5s and costs, and W. Lewis and Elizabeth Jackson, each 10s and costs, for being drunk and disorderly. Earl v Levy.— -In this case the plaintiff . sought to enforce his claim upon a parcel of. books purchased by him and unlawfully taken by the defendant from Mr W-llis' auction sale, and worth one shilling, and he also claimed £1 damages for detention of the same. , Mr Acton Adams appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Fell for : the defendant. The defendant's case was that he had purchased two parcels of books, and taken, away those claimed by mistake.- , : - .
