CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor ov the .'Neison Evening Mail.

Sir,— l had expected ere this to have heard that in churches of all denominations prayer had, been made for the much needed rain. We have now had nearly six months of dry weatber, the feed for cattle and sheep is nearly all gone, arid our prospects for the coming winter are. gloomy, indeed; for even should the rain come now, we may naturally expect that tlie frosts will be upon us in less than two months; and it there should;' be no fresh grass before that time, that which springs up during, the day will be destroyed, by night, therefore let us ask in true faith and 1 belief that our prayers will be answered, and the Almighty will assuredly fulfil his beneficent pro-, mises, " Ask arid ye- shall receive/" and " What- r ever ye ask the Father in my name he will give it you." By the last mail ye learn .that there, had; been a great deluge of rain in Eriglahd,"and prayers had been offered up from all classes and denominations for fine weather, and, aa /weknow since by electric cable, fine weather had set in. What an encouraging example for us. At the same time we must use all. the means hv: our power to prevent any waste of what little- water we have, and I would suggest that ,one.pf. the water staff should visit the water-taps supplied to ■ private houses, many .of which are^and have been, leaking for months. Trusting! :you will" give publicity to these suggestions, ....-',-. . . ■ : I remain yours, ... , c. j, p. .: : , For continuation of news see fourth, page., „
