T. S. WTMOND & CO. • IN EXPLANATIO N>, TN reference to the Advertisement of Weblet JL Bbothehs, cautioning the public against " our Nelson" Tweed Tkowsers and Vests for 305," our Advertisement shou"d have read "Imitation Nelson Tweed Trowsers and Vests 305," the word " imitation " was omitted (accidentally) by our clerk in copying it from a rough pencil memorandum. We beg to state that it was very far from our intention to represent them as being made up from their Tweeds ; but rather to have implied that we have produced a superior class of goods in every respect, made to our own order, to compete in legitimate competition with Nelson Tweeds. The excellence of our goods has been confirmed by competent judges (not interested ones) who assure us that they are better finished, and more to the popular taste than the goods from whicb they were copied. The Public must now judge between our Goods at 30s, and the Webley's at their price; our principle being free trade and no monopoly, the lattei having beeu the ruin of Nelson. T. S. W. & Co. would add that they shall always endeavor to act /airly and honorably witb all who trade with them — selling at all times ai the smallest remunerative prices, in spite, of all the petty opposition they meet with. As to the " Spurious Imitation," we are prepared to give a guarantee of durability with "Our Nelson Tweed "Clothing. T. S. WYMOND & CO. Nelson, October 29, 1872. 2315 CRICKET BATS ! CRICKET BATS ! At the Old Stand. 2303 CAUTION TO THE PUBLIC. THE Undersigned beg respectfully to inform the public of Nelson, that the READY-MADE CLOTHING now advertised by. Messbs, WYMOND & CO., as the production of our well-known " LOCAL INDUSTRY," is but a SPURIOUS IMITATION of the TWEED MANUFACTURED BY US. WEBLEY BROTHERS. WYMOND AND CO.'S EXPLANATION. P.S. — The explanation advanced by Messrs. Wxmohd and Co., to our minds, is by no means satisfactory. Granted that by inserting the word IMITATION the latter part of the advertisement is disposed of, there is still the former part of the advertisement to account for, — namely, "To Supporters of Local Industry. 3 ' How the importation and sale of foreign goods can be called a branch of "Local Industry," we are at a loss to understand. We still believe it was the intention of the Advertisers to palm off their goods upon the public as genuine Nelson Tweed. With reference to quality and durability, perhaps the best argument in proof of the superiority of our Tweeds is to be found in the fact that they have been so universally imitated. We leave the matter with the public to judge who is right in this matter. 2302 THE COMPETITION for RIFLE PRIZES to be given by the PROVINCIAL GOVERNMKNT of NELSON, for the year 1872, will commence on MONDAY, the 18th November, instant.
