Auckland, August 9. At the Police Court, Captain Harding of the Nebraska was charged with making a false statement relative to the health of his ship. Captain Burgess, the pilot, and several others were examined for the defence. Tee doctor positively asserted that there was no smallpox on board. His Worship said that, after the evidence of the surgeon, wbo stated that there was no infectious disease on board, he did not think that he was justified in committing Capt.tia Harding. The case was, therefore, dismissed, and the second charge was withdrawn. Dunedin, August 10. There is not the faintest cine towards the discovery of Plummer, the escaped prisoner.
