PARLIAMENTARY.
Wellington", August 9. The'debate on insular separation was resumed last night, when Mr Stafford raid he would like to have an expression of opinion from the Government. The Premier replied that they would not state their opinion, but would await the result of other resolutions. He would like to know what position Mr Stafford would have assumed under similar circumstances. Mr Staffo d said that the confessiou of the Premier was most humiliating. Had he (Mr Stafford) been at the head of the Government, he would not have allowed himself to be swayed by the opinion of the House, as if he had no principles of his own. He would have adopted a different course from that pursued by the miserable set of wretches on the Government inches. The Speaker called Mr Stafford to order. Mr Stafford. substituted another phrase. . After a division, the debate was adjourned until Wednesday next. Mr St afford afterwards withdrew the expression *< miserable set of wretches."
