The debate on the Caluorman mail subsidy is adjourned until the 26th iust. Sutcliffe, the smallpox patient on board the Hero, from Newcastle, has died. The case was one of the most virulent type. Two hundred and fifty-two lbs. of specimens from Krohman's claim yielded 331 ounces of gold. A mini named Canfrey has died at the hospital from the effects oi garottiug a fortnight ago. Vaccination and sanitary measures are beiug observed. The Raugatira's passengers were not allowed lo land, but were taken to King George's Sound. News has been received flint tho cable is still unworkable. Mr. Todd does not believe that it is broken, but faulty from leakage, as faint signals come through. Pending repairs, messages will be conveyed from Port Darwin to Java by steamer. In August the gap will probably be reduced to 60 miles, and messages forwarded three times a week. The Lily with 300 tons of flour has sailed for Mauritius.
