At New York there Las been a general strike of; mechanics and laborers for eight hours work, and an increase of pa)'. Minister Sickles hns been recalled from Spain. No successor will be appointed until matters under controversy- are settled. Congress adjourned on the llih. The republic nominated Grant ns President. Henry Wilson Viernay, of the Treasury, ha 3 notified that the new" loan will be deferred on account of the delicate relations wilh Great Britain and Spain. The military and naval movements along the Gulf coast indicate the suspension of approaching trouble with Spain. The Government regards unfavorably the British proposal to postpone the Geneva arbitration. Stokes trial for shooting Fisk begins on the 20th June. San Fkancisco. — June 20. — Wool is nominal at 30 to 35 cents, good to common; choice, 40 to 45 cents. Stocks Urge. Wheat, 1 dol. 70 ceuts to 1 dol. 90 cents per cental sis extremes. Liverpool wheat market, 12$. 6J. to 12s. Sd.
