The Persian famine is worse than ever. Dr. Livingstone has been found alive and well. He refuses to leave the country till his intended .explorations are complete. The International Exhibition was opened on the 13th inst., at Copenhagen, by the King of Denmark. The cholera has appeared in the Black Sea ports. The German men-of-war V.enietta and Gazelle ha«e captured two Hoy hen corvettes, and hold them until payment is made. It is expected that the German indemnity influence will-be largely felt at the

next election of the Pope of Rome. The Pope has addressed a letter to Antonelli deploring the iipproacbiug suppression of the Italian convents, which he denounced as a violation of international law. He declares that it ia only a regard for the highest interests that prevents his leaving Rome. A reconciliation is impossible, and a conflict between the Holy See and the Italian Government is inevitable. The Popo cannot submit to such usurpations, and requests Antonelli to protest against them to the foreign powers. A telegram, dated June 10, referring to the race between England and America, says : — The Atlanta crew entered upon the race to-day under most unfavorable circumsiances. After the storm had ceased, the water was rough and lumpy, and the tide running very Etroug. It was half-past six before the race commenced. The Atlanta won the tos3 and chose the Surrey side of the river. The English crew got a length ahead in the first two hundred yards, and soon increased the gap to a length and a half, and though the Americans made desperate efforts to recover their loss and partially succeeded, they soon began to fail, find although they rowed the race throughout pluckily, the English crew came out easily more than twenty lengths .ahead. Smallpox is raging ia Dublin. A powder magazine explosion has' occurred at Oswestry, Shropshire, by which several persons were killed.
