Bank of New Zealand. — Shareholders in this Bank will be pleased to learn that a telegram received in town this morning, from Auckland, states that the half-yearly meeting was held yesterday, when a dividend was declared at the rate of 15 per cent. Assembly Room. — An entertainment, for which a very excellent programme has | been published, is to be given at the Assembly Rooms, to-morrow evening, by Mr. Alic O'Brien, the celebrated dancer, and Mr. Bromley, the well-known comic singer and polyphonist, assisted by the Nelson Amateur Christy Minstrels. Such a combination of talent should ensure a crowded audience. Harmonic Society's Concert. — The quarterly concert of this Society will be held at the Provincial Hall, this evening, and promises to be one of the most popular that has been given for some time, the cheerful music of Birch's merry little cantata, "The Merry Men of Sherwood Forest" having found considerable favor with those to whom its execution is to be entrusted to-night. The Dunedin Star says that a piece of road metal was picked up in Union-street, the other day, which, on examination, proved to contain gold, numerous specks being visible to the naked eye.
