Kelson, January 15. To the Members of the Fire Brigade, Gentlemen —We have much pleasure in tendering our sincere thanks to all the members of your brigade for their great exertions in extinguishing last night a fire that might have ruined one-half of Bridge-street. Being eyewitnesses, we are convinced that new hose must be obtained at once of sufficient power to withstand the highest pressure, Towards such we beg to enclose a cheque for £3 35., and we trust the Insurance Offices, which last night saved some thousands of pounds through your exertions, will come forward and supplement their present small subscriptions in a liberal spirit, seeing the heavy risk they are under. Our fellow-townsmen, we are convinced, will all give their quota to this object as well as finding funds for the maintenance of your efficient Fire Brigade. We are, &c, T. S. Wymond & Co, If the other Insurance Offices and business men will come forward as promptly and liberally as the New Zealand Company and Messrs. Wymond & Co. have done, we shall, io the course of a very few days, be in a position to state that the order has been despatched for such a bose as is necessary for the safety of the town.
