Silkworms. — To prevent disappointment to intending visitors we are informed by Mr. Batchelor that the season for viewing the silkworms will of necessity close on Friday next.
St Mary's Schools. —The prizes will be distributed at St. Mary's Boys' School by his Honor the Superintendent, this evening. Art Union of London, —Tiio prizes drawn last year by successful subscribers in Nelson arrived by the Rapido from London, and are now on view at Mr. Stanton's. They consist of a large and handsomely framed painting by J. J. Wilson, 5.8.A., valued at 60 guineas, representing a French fishing village. This has fallen to the lot of Mr. Shallcrass. The other one, the winner of which is Mr. D. Burns, is a bust of the Priucess Louise, the original of which was by Mrs. Thorneycroft. The Council have also presented to Mr. Stan ton, in recognition of his services, an exceedingly pretty little statuette representing a Dancing Girl reposing, the original of which was valued at 500 guineas.
