Mr. Solomon's banquet to old colonists wns a great success, over five hundred guests being present. Three deaths havo occurred from sunstroke. Bochin has been committed for trial for the murder of G-ueren at Paradise. Westcott, who is organizing the northern -.-old prospecting expedition, has received very favorable concessions from the Government, of Northern Australia. The figure-head of a ship that had evidently been burnt has been found. It does not appear to have been long in the water, as there are no barnacles attached to it, nor is it worm-eaten. It is the figure of a seafaring man, and the scroll bears the motto " Keep a good look-out." Tiie ship was probably about 1500 tons. Tlie figure, which had evidently been burnt ;vway from if, was found near Rotten Nest Island.
