A German Paper published in Melbourne, says : —" The Council of Education in New York, in view of the importance of the German language, have unanimously decreed that it shall be obligatory to teach it in all public schools in New York. We may further remark that at private schools in New York, Boston, &c, the teaching of the German language has been already introduced. A good third of the schools in New York are purely German, and in them the teaching of the, English language has been made compulsory, just as in the others the teaching of German is obligatory.
