No pains have beeu spared in getting up the pieces, aud the additional attraction is offered of the prizes, won during the day, being presented on the stage. The charge was not proved against Percival, who was dismissed, but Wootteu was sentenced to three days' imprisonment, and a whipping, which was energetically administered this morning, and it is said that the boy's views with reference to the advantages of thieving have since undergone a radical change, sufficiently deep-seated, it. is to be hoped, to deter him from again indulging in so objectionable a pastime. Tomorrow's Sports. — The public holiday to-morrow is not likoly to prove so dull a one as such days iu Nelson usually are. Messrs Austin and Edwards have spared no pains in preparing such a programme as is likely to attract to the ground all lovers of sports, and,, what with running, walking,- steeplechasing, hurdle-racing, &c. there will be plenty of amusement afforded to the lookers on who will, no doubt, muster iu large numbers. After the rain of yesterday the course should be in capital order, and as there is every probability of fine weather, Nelson holiday-makers may expect a really pleasant day. The sports, will commence at 12 o'clock sharp.
