Although six horses, including Lacenieed, were entered for thisrace, it ended in a walk over for Mr. Walter's Slander. Canterbury Cup, of 300 sovs. : added to a sweepstakes of 20 sovs. Two miles and a quarter. Mr. Kedwood's ch m Peeress, aged ... 1 Mr. Studholrae's ch h Knottingley ... 2 The only other horse entered for this eveut was Mr. Studholme's Flying \Fish, who, however, did not put in an appearance at the post, thus leaving tbfe' race to the two* old rivals who made a dead heat of it, but on running again, the gallant Peeress had it all, her own way, the horse not being able to get uear her. : .
