EDUCATION COMMITTEES.

Stoke. — The meeting of ratepayers was held in the schoolroom on Tuesday last, about fifteen being present. Mr. Rout having taken the chair, the following gentlemen were nominated : — Messrs. J. Doidge, R\ Ching, E. Jellyman, W. Burlace Pote, J. Bovey, J. Paynter, J. Rowbotham, H. Parker, and T. Tidd. The three former were elected. Wakapuaka.— A considerable amount of interest was taken in this election, there being a much larger number present than on previous occasions. Several subjects of importance were discussed, and among others the question of introducing Scripture reading into the schools, but the general feeling appeared to be against this. Messrs. W. Wastney, W. Wells, and W. H. Turner were elected members of the Committee.
