Fatal Accident. — We regret to learn that Mr. James Baird, formerly a member of the Provincial Council, and a most useful and valuable member of the community, was drowned, while crossing the river at Motupipi, on Saturday evening. It ia supposed that the tide was running strong at the time, and that he was washed off his horse, as the body was found some distance down the river, on the following morning.
