NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.
0 Friday, March 10. Present : All the members except Mr. Burn. A letter was received from Messrs. Stewart and others, asking the Board to make up the footpath in Manuka-street. Ordered to be done. A letter was received from Mr. J. Hounsell asking permission to plant trees in Nile-street East. Leave granted. The following tenders were opened : — For forming a portion of Russell-street:
In both cases the lowest tenders were accepted. The Surveyor was instructed to have the footpath filled up in front of the Baptist Chapel in Hardy-street. A letter was received from Mr. N, Edwards, asking the Board to gravel a portion of Scotland-street. Agreed to. A letter was received from Mr. Wakefield, asking the Board to finish the work in Kawai-streer, towards which he and Mr. Black would each subscribe £5, or agree to be specially rated. The Surveyor was instructed to report upon the matter next Board meeting. The Surveyor was instructed to have the footpath repaired from Hampdenstreet to the Hospital. Mr. Dodson called the attention of the Inspector of Nuisances to the trees which overhang the footpaths in various places of the town. Sundry accounts having been passed, the Board adjourned until Friday, the 24th inst.
