Motueka Election. — We understand that a petition against the return of Sir David Monro, for the district of Motueka, has been lodged with the Returning Officer. Unregistered Dogs. — Another raid has been made by the police on the owners of dogs without tickets, six or seven of whom had an interview with the Resident Magistrate this morning, leaving the Courthouse a few shillings poorer than when they entered it. Waimea Quartz Crushing Company. — A meeting of shareholders in 'this company was held at Wiikefield for the purpose of electing directors, when the appointment of those who had hitherto held office as Provisional Directors was confirmed. Interruption op Mail Communication between Tauranga and the Thames. — Telegraphic intelligence has been received in towu to-day, to the effect that owing to a temporary interruption of the mail between Tauranga and the Thames, no telegrams for Auckland will be forwarded via Tauranga until further notice. Mr. Gully's Pictures. — We are glad to learn that the merits of our local artist, Mr. Gully, have been fully appreciated in England, where not only have the pictures recently sent home by him commanded a ready sale, but orders have been despatched thence for a similar pair to those he sent home at 60 guineas each, and two more of a smaller size at 40 guineas each.
