NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.

Friday, December 30. Present : All the members but Mr. Haddow. The following tenders were received for filling up the road and pathway near Mr. Harley's stables, in Trafalgar-street North : C. Bray, £12 lOs., R. Grant, £21. The tender of C. Bray was accepted. The Surveyor produced specifications for gravelling the Waimea-road from Hampden-street to Mr. Raikes' property, and for erecting a culvert near Mr. Bolton's Nursery Garden. Ordered that tenders be invited for the works. A letter was received from Calder and Lukins, the sub-contractors for the erection of the sea wall at the Port, asking for £10 compensation for " loss of materials and labour" in carrying out their contract. The Board declined to entertain the application. A letter from Mr. P. Cooke, asking the Board whether they would provide the labour, if he found the material for erecting a bridge across the ditch iu front of his property in Collingwood-street, was referred to the Public Works Committee, On the motion of Mr. Webb it was agreed that tenders be invited for cutting a ditch in continuation of the Waimeastreet Culvert as far as Halifax-street. Certain accounts were then presented and approved, and the Board adjourned until Friday, the 13th January.
