The report of the Public Works Committee was read, and the following suggestions adopted : — That no further work be proceeded with for the present on Kawai--Btree t; that plans and specifications for improving the road, aud forming a culvert at the junction of the Washington Valley road and Vincent-street be prepared ; also for a culvert at the junction of Russell-street with the Haven-road. The subject of the Waimea-street drain was then discussed, and tbe special rate fixed at three-eighths of a penny. The general rate for the town was fixed at three farthings in the pound.
