Regatta Club. — A meeting of the members of this club will be held at the Ship Hotel on Monday evening next, at half-past seven. Caledonian Society. — The adjourned meeting of this Society is advertised to take place at {he Temperance Hall on j Monday evening, at 8 o'clock. j Farmers' Club. — The monthly meeting of the Stoke Farmers' Club will be held at the schoolroom on Monday evening, at 8 o'clock. Cricket Match Extraordinary. — The cricket mania has extended to the " Carters and Cabmen" of Neisou, between whom a match is to take place at the Botanical Gardens, on Tuesday next. Christ Church. — We are requested to state that the Bishop of Neisou will preach at Christ Church to morrow evening, on " the hopes and prospects of comprehension with other Protestant bodies as a step towards Christian unity." Since writing the above, we have learned that the Bishop will preach on the same subject, at All Saints' Church, in the morning. Departure from: Westport of the i Rev. Mr. Lewis. — At a full meeting of the Vestry of St. John's, held last week, au expression of regret wa3 recorded that the district was about to lose Mr. Louis' ministration, aud while thanking him for his past labors, it was trusted that, iu the new field to which he was on tho eve of departing, he would experience every worldly and spiritual prosperity, as he would take with him the best wishes and sympathy of the Westport congregation. Board of Works. — Tho usual fort--1 nightly meeting took place last night, but little business of interest was transacted. The question of sewerage was mooted, and the chairman laid before the Board the following figures as showing the last year's assessment of the property which would be liable to a special rate for the proposed drainage purposes ; Waimea Street, £31,546; Nile-street West, £6,238; Hardy-street, £10,881 ; Hardy-street, £26,659 ; Total £75,324. This, at the proposed rate of five-eighths of a penny in the pound, would yield £196 3s. l|-cl per annum, the required income beiug £200.
