Colonies, on the days noted in the Policies ; but the Government reserves to itself the right of requiring payments to be made, in Great Britain three months, and in the Australian Colonies, one month in advance, should it be deemed necessary. Football. — A telegram was received from Wellington this afternoou, stating that the weather was holding up, and that the match would be played "in the mud at the Hut, at 3 o'clock this afternoon." Artizans' Society. — We are glad to find that this society purposes giving one of their capital entertainments at the Oddfellows' Hall, on Thursday next. We are requested to remind the members that there will be a rehearsal at the Oddfellows' Hall to-morrow evening, at halfpast seven. Winter Evening- Entertainments. — The seventh of this series of entertainments is advertised to take place at the Assembly Eoom to-morrow evening, when Mr. F. Wakefield will deliver a lecture on Geographical Discovery, wbich is to "be accompanied by views of the Suez Caual, if they can be obtained from the Wellington Museum in time, but this, we fear is a little doubtful, as it is possible that the Phoebe may not arrive before tomorrow evening. However, we have no doubt that Mr. Wakefield, who has given several lectures at Wellington Institute, will carry out his part of the programme ia a manner which will entertain and delight all his hearers. The remainder of the evening will be devoted as usual to instrumental and vocal music. The members of the choir and band are reminded that there will be a practice at the Harmonic Hall, this evening, at seven o'clock. The Gourlays. — This remarkable family give the first of their performances at the Oddfellows' Hall this evening. All those who had the pleasure of witnessing their acting on their last visit, some two years ago, will remember that they were unanimously votod one of the most attractive companies that had appeared in Nelson.
