Scientific Association — The monthly meeting of this Association will beheld on Wednesday evening next, when the Bishop of Nelson will read a paper he has received from Dr. Haast on the hot springs j of the Hanraer Plain. The Carandinis. — The concert of last night being for the benefit of Miss Rosina, there was, as might have been expected a large audience. The first solo "0 Fair Dove" by that young lady, received an enthusiastic encore which was responded to by the song "No one to love," which, in itself exceedingly simple, was a remarkable instance of how much may be made of the most homely materials by the skill which is brought to bear upon the handling of them. "0 Mio Fernando" gave us a better idea of the brilliaat execution of which Miss Fannie is capable than anything we have yet heard her sing, the encore wMch followed producing our old favourite " The Three Fishers/ But we cannot notice each item in the programme, we must, however, say one word in favor of the exquisit singing of Miss Rosina in the touching ballad " I cannot mind my wheel Mother," a song which to be thoroughly appreciated must be heard from the lips of this talented artiste and none other. The last concert but one is to

take place to night, to-morrow evening's performance being' "devoted to the benefit of Misa Fannie. ■
