NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.

The nomination of candidates for the three vacant seats in the Board of Works took place at noon to-day. But little interest appeared to be taken in the proceedings, there being only about a score of persons present. Mr. Percy having been i called to the chair, the following gentlemen were nominated : — Mr. B. Jackson, proposed by Mr. Haddow and seconded by Mr. Healy. Mr. Webb, proposed by Mr. T. Hooper and seconded by Mr. Levy. Mr. Mabin, proposed by Mr. Cooke and seconded by Mr. Hibble. Mr. Haddow, proposed by Mr. Healy and seconded by Mr. Simpson. Mr. . J. R. Dodson, proposed by Mr. Mabin and seconded by Mr. Webb. ; The show of hands haying been declared to be in favor of Messrs. Webb, Dodson, and Mabin, a poll was demanded by Mr. Healy on behalf of Mr. Haddow. The poll will take place at the Board of Works office to-morrow between the hours of twelve and four.
