Ea.rhqtjake. — A smart shock of earthquake, by which, however, uo damage was done, was felt in Christchurch on Thursday night. Two Swindlers well known in Melbourne, have arrived iu Otago with a large quantity of shoddy silks, and false jewellery. Possibly they may pay a visit to Nelson. The contract for disiuferring the bodies in the Westport burial-ground, and removing them to the Orawaiti cemetery, has been commenced. By the friends of deceased persous, several bodies had been previously aud privately removed.
