RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
[Before J. Sharp, Esq., R.M.] This Day. Larceny. Frederick Thomason, charged with stealing a cap, the property of Job Lines, of Spring Grove, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labor. Cattle Trespass. A. G. Betts, G. Thomas, R. Grant, R. K. Turner, charged with allowing cattle to be at large in the streets, were fined in the usual amount.
Breach of Board of VFotks Regulations. James Lucre, omnibus driver, was charged by Wm. Lockyer with being guilty of a breach of Board of Works bye^law No. 23, by allowing a hackney Carriage to stand at the corner of Hardy aud Trafalgar streets plying for hire, such place not being a hackney carriage stand. Mr. Fisher appeared for complainant. Mr. Kingdon, for defendant, admitted the offence. His Worship stated that he did not pretend to say whether or not it was for the convenience of the public that the omnibus took its stand at that particular corner, but as it was not a place appointed by the Board of Works, he should be compelled to five defendant; but this being the first time it had been attempted to put the bye-law into force, the penalty would only be ss. aud costs. Indecent Assault. J. Simpson Graham, charged with indecently assaulting Christina Jacobsen, a girl of 11 year 3of age, was remanded until Monday next.
