The Wangapeka. — We learn from Sergeant Goodall, who arrived in town thiß morning, that the Surveying party arrived at Wangapeka on Monday evening, and purposed commencing the survey I yesterday, but the mist was so low down on the hills that it would bave been almost impossible for them to have made much progress. The miners are still engaged in shepherding their claims, and no work of any kind whatever is being carried on. Sunday School. — Another Sunday School has been opened in the Upper Moutere, about three miles from the one which has been established for some time at the Provincial School-house. The children in the neighborhood seem to highly appreciate it, some of thera wishing that " to-raorrow was Suuday." Mr. Thomas Gifford bas kindly lent tbe premises for this praiseworthy and useful purpose. Local Industry. — Tbe majority of our readers are perhaps not aware that a considerable business in tbe manufacture of cherry wine is being carried on in Nelson. Mr. Bartlett, of Washington Valley, is this year turning out some 60 quarter-casks, for which he finds a ready saie at six shillings per gallon, indeed, we are informed tbat he could dispose of double the quantity if he had the conveniences for making it. The amount of fruit required for the manufacture of this wine is considerable, some six tons having already been used, which would iv all probability, were it not for the demand thus created, have been suffered to rot on J the trees.
