NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.

Friday, Juke 4. Present: All the members but Mr. Field. Mr D. Burns in the chair. TRAFALGAR-STREET NORTH. The Surveyor was ordered to have this street gravelled from Bridge-street to the Maitai Eiver. Letters were received from Messrs. Watkins, Akersten, and Simpson, relative to certain works in Colliogwood, Hanapden, and N«atitawa Streets. Ordered, that the work be done. A petitiou from the ratepayers of Vanguard-street respecting a footpath at the upper end ; letters from the Rev. R. Thorpe and others relating to repair of road in Washington Valley ; and the subject of removing the area gratings at the Masonic Hotel, were referred to the Public Works Committee. A letter from Mr Brunner relative to the continuing St. Vincent-street was read and the following resolution adopted : — " That the Board agrees with the excellent suggestion of the Government Surveyor, Thomas Brunner, Esq., for the proposed alteration of St. Vincent-street, near the Haven-road, as such an alteration will be highly advantageous to the inhabitants of the City."

The following tenders per chain for gravelling tVashiugton Valley road and Trafalgar Square were opened : — Washington Trafalgar Yalley Square

The tenders of Johu Bray for Washington Valley, and J. Mitchell for Trafalgar Square were accepted. A letter was read from Mr. Richardson, tendering his thanks to the Board for the excellent road that had beeu made in the JVJuitai Valley by prison labor, Tiie Board then adjourned until Friday, 18th instant. *
