CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the Nelson Evening Mail. Sir. — I beg through tbe medium of your useful - columns, to inform the Nelson Government of the present dangerous state of the bridle track commencing at the end of Mr. S. Smith's dray road that faces the foot of the Maungatapu Road, i.e. about one mile beyond Mr. Dwyer's accommodation house in the forks of the Maitai. The last flood has caused several slips and partial slips in the embankments made on the very margin of the river; if immediate steps are taken to repair the sameitwill cost a mere trifle, but should they be neglected, broken limbs, if not actual loss of life, will most probably be the result. I am, &c, C J P May Ist, 1869.
