RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. Before J. Sharp, Esq., R.M.
Yestekdat. J. M'Leod v. William Wright.— Mr Pitt appeared for the defendant. This was an action to recover the sum of £3 18s 9d, the alleged value of a swag belonging to plaintiff, which had been lost from a public house kept by defendant. Judgment lor plaintiff, for £3 2s 9d and costs. This Day. B. Franzen v. N. T. Lockhart.-^Claim for £15 18s sd, amount of acceptance given by plaintiff in payment for sails supplied to the schooner S. D. Bailey, for which he was agent. Defendant pleaded that he was not responsible for the payment of goods supplied to the master of that vessel, but the Reneh considering that the acceptance produced was sufficient acknowledgment of the debt, «ave judgment for amoupt claimed, and costs 19s payable in a month, time being allowed' to enable defendant to communicate with the American consul in Auckland.
